HUNNIC TRIBES, Western Turks. Early 8th century. 1/2 Drachm (Bronze, 26 mm, 2.36 g). Male bust in three-quarter frontal view to right, wearing a winged crown with a Sēnmurw on top; before head, ‘śrī samarāśuṇa’ (‘His Perfection, Samarashuna’ in Brahmi script; samarāśuṇa literally means ‘Fighting Dog’); two countermarks: to left, combined elephant head and camel; to right, indistinct. Vondrovec 259. Zeno-199498 (this coin). Very rare. Some deposits, otherwise, very fine.
